Kahal Chaverim’s Mission Statement
To create a warm, welcoming, and inclusive community of individuals and families who value their Jewish identity and seek to embrace human power for positive change with humanistic Jewish perspectives and who, working as a cooperative:
-
Celebrate and observe Jewish holidays and Shabbats as a community and mark major lifecycle events in ways that are consistent with humanistic Jewish perspectives;
-
Explore Jewish history, culture, traditions, and values, as well as issues of concern to the Jewish people, including philosophical and ethical issues as to the “grand questions” of life and responsibilities to others, to Jews, to the larger community, and the world;
-
Engage in social action, community service, and mutual support as a caring community through which members can find support and self-fulfillment; and
-
Provide a link to The Society for Humanistic Judaism, as well as regional, national, and international Jewish organizations that similarly seek to interpret the members’ common past in ways that will most faithfully serve current human needs.
